Hector Duran

CEO

Hector Duran has been in social services and integrated health for the last 33 years with direct administrative leadership roles managing both acute involuntary inpatient facilities and outpatient programs. Mr. Duran recently returned to Las Cruces after being away in Arizona for the last 25 years gaining a wealth of his experience and his education in the Phoenix and Tucson Metro areas. Mr. Duran initially started in this field as a contracted presenter for the New Mexico Department of Health in 1992 providing presentations to youth at-risk on gang violence and substance abuse prevention as well as targeting teen pregnancy and HIV in his presentations. In 1997, he was instrumental in starting outreach services to intravenous drug users of Doña Ana County that eventually would turn into a syringe exchange program. During this time, Mr. Duran learned a great deal of the lack of resources that were available to individuals afflicted with addiction to substances and alcohol. In 1998, Mr. Duran was successful in working with two different methadone maintenance agencies that would open their doors to serve not only the City of Las Cruces, but also the City of Anthony here in New Mexico. He has been an advocate for this population as he is also in recovery himself spanning 25 years this year and is driven by efforts to provide the best resources to the communities he serves. Mr. Duran is a father of two adult children and is a poet and writer. He has been writing since he was a child and has been published with articles in Lowrider and Lowriding Magazines, has poetry on Poetry.com, and published a book under the pseudonym in 2005. He dedication and passion has been to revolutionize as well as to integrate culture into mental health and drug treatment programs that will engage the individuals who have felt certain treatments do not lend to their personal perspectives. Mr. Duran’s mission is to instill a sense of healing by planting the seeds of knowledge, fostering community and family integration systems for patients to safely discharge into a supportive environment, and to ensure that LCRC is recognized as a safe and culturally relevant center for individuals in their addiction to consider
